Possible mandolin repertoire

Some of the originals of these tunes are on a one-off CD I made awhile back. I think listening to source material is very important. I'll have copies for sale cheap.

Sicily
- Tarantella San Vito - from my friend and playing pal, Tony Flores

          - Fiore di Maggio (aka: Indian Polka, Turkish Polka)
Seychelles - Mazok de Kamtole (quadrille mazurka)
Cuba - Noche Azul (Cuban-style tango by Ernesto Lecuona)
         - Tabu (rumba written by Ernesto's niece, Margarita Lecuona)
Corsica - Polka di Giacometti (which is really a schottisch)
Hawaii - Palakiko Blues - as recorded by Frank Fereira in June 1917
Canary Islands - Vals de Duteuil
Haiti - Canray Fontenot's Haitian merengue
Bahamas - Orange Blossoms Smell So Sweet Polka
Ireland - A Week In January (a lovely Seamus Egan tune)
Puerto Rico - Ecos de Puerto Rico (pasodoble by Maestro Ladí)
                    - Aurora (mazurca, also from Maestro Ladí)
Long - Flatbush Waltz (Andy Statman classic)
Madagascar - Izahay Sy I Malala, from Sylvestre Randafison
Martinique - Mazurka des Titanes, from flute master Léon Sainte-Rose

. . . plus tunes from some landlocked or otherwise
         aquatically challenged islands such as:

Ticino - Anything from the repertoire of my old friend Riccardo Tunzi
Dordogne - Léon Dupeyrat's Player Piano Bourrée; Pirouette Polka
Utah - Old Hans, Two Friends (Mormon tunes, from Hal Cannon)
Bavaria - Zwiefacher aus Rosenheim
Brasil  - Yara (schottisch)
          - Escovado (tango brasileiro, both from cavaquinho wizard Henrique Cazes)
Osterdal - Langdans efter Gustaf Strutz (from Väsen)
Michoacan -  La Magnolia (a Tarascan waltz field-collected by Jody Stecher way back when)
Québec - Matins à Bonny Doon (André Marchand, un des meilleurs guitaristes du Québec)
New Orleans - The Original Dixieland One-Step (great tune - weird story)
Bonny Doon - Morivivi (a mazurca in Puerto Rican style, my tune) . . .and other such places!

Some of these are really simple, some are more difficult. Since I teach by ear, we'll gauge the difficulty to the group, and get whatever the most people can take in. Tape machines, or whatever passes for them these days are, as ever, a real good idea.

I am available for private lessons on guitar (or whatever), on the Lark clock. Or off, if necessary. Signup sheets will be in a good place. More info here.
